Souzou Bijutsu

It is an association of Nihon-ga painters which formed in 1948 to demonstrate a rejection of the official exhibitions and to advocate non-governmental activities. The group was started with six members from Tokyo, including Yamamoto Kyujin and Yoshioka Kenji, and seven from Kyoto, including Uemura Shoko and Hirota Tatsu.
